Do you think Dr. H is... I mean its been 14 posts, and under the circumstances I think I might be forgiven for wondering...

I cannot finish this post with a straight face. I'm sorry Dr. H, I mean no meanness. It struck me as funny. Chalk it up to my changing brands of coffee. Blame the caribou.

Ah...Jean Shepherd! Good to see him mentioned. Like Garrison, timeless. As for Thile's PHC, it's not Keillor's PHC but it's still a refreshing and unique couple of hours that I enjoy more than most of what passes for entertainment. Whatever happens Chris will be fine but we'll lose a sweet show.

I miss it. The new show is very pro but way too hyper and hopped-up. I loved the lazy, laid-back weekendy feel it used to have. And fewer guests made the guests seem more special. Now it seemls like a cattle call.

I still listen, but I don't sit in the car until the end the way I used to.

Yup. File it with "Play it again, Sam," "Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him well," and "There's a bathroom on the right."

The old soap operas used to manage it, 5 days a week, year round.

Summer vacation doesn't usually start 2 weeks before Christmas and last till mid May.
If a school closed for that period, yeah, I would consider that school officially dead.

Think of the great radio voices, like Jean Shepherd or Keillor in his young days, and it's like you're sitting in a bar and they're just talking to you. It's effortless. All CT needs to do is relax, step aside and let the musicians play their music without trying to be in the mix, don't worry about being cool or hipster-edgy, or referencing mandolins, and just let it flow. He's got the natural skills, so it'll be fine.
I caught the new show this past weekend. I'd keep listening, even if CT dropped all the skits and just kept the music. His command of a wide range of styles is phenomenal.

I blame the caribou for anything I can't pin on the reindeer. Popular Maine/Canada/Alaska riddle:

Q: What's the difference between reindeer and caribou?

    A: Caribou can't fly.
