Thread: River tunes

In 1960, Vico Torriani sang "Kalkutta liegt am Ganges",(Kalkutta is situated on the river Ganges)
Geography sticklers migt have cried out in exasperation: it's situated on the river Hugli, which has its origin in the Ganges but is a river of its own , flowing to the estuary!
But I guess, back in the 60ies people had other problems on their minds...

(This time my electric Tenor Guitar)

That was harmless compared to Heino who sang about a goucho drinking whiskey in Rio de Janeiro

Quicksilver has a tune; "Misery River". It's a good one if you are into bluegrass.

No specific river...more about state of mind....

OK, it's the cover by McKendree Spring instead of the original Neil Young/Crazy Horise version, but I just couldn't put anyone through Neil's interminable garage guitar solo.

    Hi,

Tombigbee Waltz is one of my favourites. A lot of people tend to think it’s about a person, but it’s about a river in Alabama. Mike Compton does a great version.

The Scottish fiddle tune "Meeting of the Waters".

I live in a city where two large significant rivers meet, so this tune has always been special to me.
