This is the 2nd one I've seen Gruhn had one a few months back, this one is also on reverb/ebay, seller says its not the same one from Gruhns Its a G6? I think. Wonder what it sounds like, I don't think its carved, its one of those pressed/steamed models. They have the back brace like some Kalamazoos. I still wouldn't mind having it, I got a soft spot for them strange 30's era Gibsons. But would rather buy something different for the price wanted. Still pretty kool

Back brace! Jeez I'm using a couple back braces in my current build to lower mass while maintaining stiffness. I wonder if they used a back brace for the same reason?

The A-40 and Kalamazoo arched top mandolins used a back brace because (I was always told) it was a pressed back. I think we've had two of these over the years here. They didn't make a lot of them. I think Paul Fox has information on his website. If I recall the number made was very small. When the first one arrived we were shocked to realize that there was a lump scroll earlier than the 60's.

It will be interesting to see if it sells. Desirable and rare are not the same thing, lol!

If we're talking any Gibson second line, I've only seen one Trujo guitar.

One of my favorite quotes from George Gruhn, responding to people telling him something is rare is, "Well, Diphtheria is RARE, but I wouldn't want to have it!" (it is even funnier if you hear it in George's distinct voice and delivery!)

That was my thought, too, Allen. It looks like Gumby with severe focal kyphosis.

But what does it sound like. As a friend of mine, who is blind, says " I don't cars what it looks like". I tend to agree with him, it's the sound that is important.

It has been relisted. The Gibson second lines that I have played (that have been setup) have been decent mandolins. I've never played this model. The Kalamazoo's from this era had excellent necks.
