Wanted to wish my personal hero a heart felt Happy Birthday!!! Way back in 1981 when a buddy of mine popped in a cassette of Mondo Mando as we were driving to the beach, my musical life changed forever. Wasn't long thereafter that I purchased my first mando and began my own 8 string musical journey . . . with the Dawg as my guiding light. Thank you David for everything and much more than I can express here . . . enjoy your Birthday and may you enjoy many many more. You are indeed much more than just my personal hero, you are a National Treasure . . . loved and respected here @ MC.

    To The Dawg . . .

From the first time I encountered him in The Even Dozen Jug Band in the mid-sixties, through Old And In The Way, Muleskinner, DGQ, his sessions with Jerry Garcia, his collaborations, DGBX, and all the other ways I've heard and seen him...

Dawg has been the primary influence on my exploration and appreciation of the world in music.

    Thanks, Mr. Grisman.

    Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to the man who inspired me too to pick up a mandolin! Though whether or not that counts as a contribution is something you'd have to ask my wife....

Note from the Dawg into our email inbox. He asked us to post this as he hasn't done posting with attachments. Here it is!

Many thanks to all y'all!! I've been told it's better to give than to receive, so here's my latest composition, really an exercise that should keep your fingers moving! Cheers! Dawg

Happy birthday Dawg. I first discovered the mandolin 30 years ago, and started listening to you shortly afterwards. Your music was, and continues to be, an inspiration to me.
