Beautiful! It looks brand new? Give us the details ...
I've had #168 for 2.5 years now and it killed MAS for me.
Play it in good health.

... not all those who wander are lost ...
It is brand new and I am truly honored to own it. It is by far the best sounding instrument in the house. Unbelievable tone and playability. I wont try to describe how it sounds other than - AWESOME!!
Congrats!
I played a Kimble A model at the Great 48 three years ago; great mandolin!
Enjoy in good mando health!

Nice! I'm trying to convince myself I don't need one and going to look away now ....
From the OP - " My level of ability will probably never match the caliber of this instrument.". If you practice as much as that mandolin makes you want to,you might make more progress faster than you'd ever imagine. I'd been playing banjo for 15 years or so when i got my Stelling. It made me want to practice more than ever, & i never made so much progress so fast in my life !.
That's a glorious mandolin - do it justice !,

Congratulations. It looks identical to #150 except, perhaps, a bit more polished! What you need now is an F
I owned a 2-Point Kimble that was Andy Statman's personal instrument for a year, then bought the A5 I have now. And I've played at least 15 other Kimbles over the years. IMO, Will has stepped up to another level these days. My A5 is simply astonishing, deep and powerful and loud and complex and inspiring. I took it back to Cotten Music in Nashville where I bought it and Kim and Andrew were awestruck by how good it is, and it's only a year old now. Congrats on a great instrument from a great builder!
Will builds a fine mandolin. Enjoy!

That is a gorgeous looking mandolin! Lovely!

Stumbling Towards Competence
I recently acquired number 191 from fellow cafe member Barry and am enamored with it. Really fits me and has inspired me to play a lot more than I had been. Congrats on your acquisition! Hopefully it brings a lot of joy.
I will publicly say that this was not an easy decision for me. #191 is one of the best F5's I've ever played from a contemporary builder. Michael leaned on me for the better part of two years for it. I mean HEAVY leaning.
In the end, it was my wife who convinced me to part with it. I think that her exact quote was, "You mainly play electric guitar these days. You probably haven't played that mandolin more than 20 minutes in the last month. Michael really wants it and he plays out professionally. Let him have the thing. Don't be a ?!€£."
And that's how it went down.
When I saw Michael play it on stage, I knew it had gone to the right home. Good karma.
Welcome to the club! I couldn't be happier with #194, also an A5.
Congrats on a fine mando! Wheel is a great maker. I remember how excited I was to get a Kimble.
Play on.
I have Kimble A5-style #12. Can't believe it's as old as it is(or I'm as old as I am). I think it was his first black-face mando;and
I talked him into using some sort of violin varnish. Don't think he will ever forgive me
for that! But I sure love the sound of that mando;and it looks killer too. He did an art-deco headstock inlay and a "reverse Collings"style headstock shape. I wanted it to look Tim Obrien-ish. It does.
Will try to get some pics up.
Thanks for doing that thing you do,Will!
Holy mackerel, it's Cameroni!!! Hope you are well, long time no see/hear...
Will, are you ego-surfing again?
Thanks for all the great mandos!
That is one beautiful mandolin. Enjoy !
Ok. Sounds like I am forgiven.
Still alive and well...
Always strive to deserve it, but never doubt for a minute that you do. Really spectacular instruments are a window to the divine, and whatever you spent on them, you will find yourself grateful and giddy every day that you did. Congratulations on a sound purchase and enjoy it in good health.
