Default Tabledit Question - grace notes

I write stuff, and transcribe stuff, that needs a really quick slide sometimes - in this case on the first beat of the measure, 2nd string, from 5th to 7th fret. I'm writing in Tabledit, and haven't been able to figure out how to notate this in Tabledit.

I've seen this type of ornament notated as in the following example I stole from another post:

Does anyone know how to notate this type of ornament in Tabledit?

Tabledit has a grace note button that puts parenthesis around a grace note, but it does not put that type of grace note outside the "time" boundaries of the notation, as in the example above, there is a line through the little eighth note and it is written so as not to interfere with the timing of the eighth note you'd be sliding to to start the measure.

How someone can understand what I'm getting at and can give pointers for tabledit.

    Howdy Mark,
Select the note(in your case, the first note of the bar, 7th fret D string), then from the Note drop down, select grace note, then you're looking at grace note dialog. You've got 2 selections: the fret of the grace note(5 in your example), and the action to get to the "played" note(hammer, slide). You can run "grace note" in the help index for more info, if you've downloaded the help file.

When you use the grace note feature in TablEdit, make sure you use the "duration" and "placement" options at the lower right corner of the dialog box. You can also check the box to place it before the beat.

To add a grace not in TablEdit, first make sure your cursor is on the note that will follow the grace note. Then, in the Notes Palette (usually off to the side, but you can place it anywhere!), click directly on the icon for a grace note. This icon looks like an eighth note with a small diagonal line crossing through its stem. This will bring up the Grace Note dialog box. From here, you have MANY options!! You can select the fret to start on, and then make the grace note a slide, a hammer-on, a pull-off, or even a note bend. You can also introduce a more complicated pattern, like a mordent or trill or gruppetto, and so on. You can change the duration of the grace note (I usually take the default, though), and also adjust its staff placement. This is a very powerful feature!
