Danny Jones passes

Danny Jones, mandolinist, guitar player and singer, died on February 3 at his home in Louisville, at age 77. He was a native of Ohio County, KY (like Bill Monroe), and had played guitar and sang with Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys in the early 1970s. Danny was a giant in the Louisville music world, with time in such diverse groups as the Bluegrass Alliance and the Louisville Mandolin Orchestra. He was a kind and humble man who willingly passed on his knowledge and technique to even the most inexperienced player.
There will be a memorial service this Saturday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

I got to meet him and pick with him several times at Monroe Camp. Such a nice guy and he knew all those good Monroe instrumentals. He will be missed!
