    Default Original Fender Style Electric

I’m interested in an electric mandolin along the lines of the original Mandocaster. It seems such a logical & relatively simple design yet I can’t seem to find much information on reissues that would be currently available or instruments from smaller companies/builders that would fit that description. I’d appreciate any information or suggestions. Thanks!

I checked them out; thanks for the suggestion. Perhaps someone has a bit more recent information or would enjoy a fresh discussion.

Jeff Cowherd does some great work with this design. No Fender 'mandocaster' types in the offing at the moment, though you can grab a different model. I think when Fender re-introduced their electric mandolin as the Mandostrat, they pretty much squashed the low to mid market for electric mandolins. Too bad, because the instruments Jeff designed and has made overseas are better than recent Fenders.

Lots of folks building great emandos to very different designs as well. All of them wonderful. If I had the money, time, and storage space, I'd be collecting emandos!

Here's a shot of my two main instruments, a JBovier EMC-5 from Jeff and an Arrow G5 from Paul Lestock.
