I've been seeing Kentucky five-string solidbodies on eBay (and elsewhere), with some regularity lately. I really like the way they look, but wonder how they sound & feel.

There's a completed example here for those who aren't familiar with them (I think they're long since out of production, kinda like the Mandocaster)

I was contemplating bidding on that one and taken my chances if it stayed under $400.
-which it did. Couldn't go too wrong. When I'm ready for an electric solid body, I'll buy what I want and won't settle just because price. -But I probably did miss out on a good deal.

I had one of those Kentucky 5's and never really liked it. Floppy C string disease and bad bridge setup. Sent it packing after a while.

I owned one for awhile and felt the same way Mrmando does.
They made a rarer 4-string Model KM-400E that was much much nicer. There're photos posted on the Photo Forum of mine. Killer pick-up. The Poor Man's mandocaster.
