I made few more observations today, the top had a slightly induced upward curve as was expected but, that resulted for a shallow angle from the bridge to the tailpiece.
The guitar is very lightly made, so I guess it was designed to work with only a relatively downward pressure on the soundboard?
However I wonder if the fret board had been replaced over the years, it definitely had new frets. So I wonder if the original fret board offered more height at the bridge & more angle? if the replacement is actually thinner, that might explain the bending neck too?
If anyone reading this who has a similar guitar (Regal) perhaps you could measure the bridge height?

I bought a Blueridge BR-40t tenor guitar and I'm delighted with it.. It's made in Korea. My only issue with the Blueridge is the extreme V shape to the neck but it plays quite well. I did replace the end pin and bridge pins with rosewood and put a strap button on the heel.

Well it is almost finished just a few more coats of tru oil.
I took the neck off in the end and re set it with more to angle to re gain some height on the bridge.
Also some new tuners, little geared banjo pegs )
