    Default Oval hole mandolins

I've been wanting to start an F4, I bought the plan set from Siminoff for such a beast but I've noticed a few oval hole mando's not quite F4'ish. Not referred to as F4 they have finger board extension's and the tops look similar to the usual F5. Would anyone care to share if they "know" what sort of graduation differences there are twixt the variations and the F4's. And are the variations graduations the same as the F5 as per or close to Adrian's plans.
    Thanks ---Gary

I have a hybrid F4 built by Sonny Morris. Oval hole, single transverse brace but the fretboard is elevated and joins the body beyond the 12th fret. Also a western Redcedar top. Great sound, great playability. I can't answer your question, but maybe Sonny can. If you want his contact info please send me a PM.
