Top sinkage on 1918 Gibson A4
I bought an A4 a year ago. The top is slightly sunk on either end of the bridge. I play it for a few weeks ata time, then loosen the strings and put it away for a few weeks.
What can be done to prevent any more sinkage? Stored at proper temperature and humidity.
What causes the tops to sink?
Thank you.

Tops usually sink because they are too thin. Many old Gibsons have/had this problem. Sometimes extra braces can be added, sometimes they need to be re-topped. I'm carving a new top for one "as we speak". It had been re-braced at least twice, but the top was simply too thin to withstand the pressure on the bridge.
