    Default Beatles--Sun King

Remembering George Martin's beautiful production of Abbey Road.

YouTube has changed some format stuff---I can't seem to get a proper thumbnail, but the video is ok.

Direct pickup only, reverb and chorus added in ProTools.

Thanks. I was looking for a "produced" sound for some Abbey Road feeling, so I used only the magnetic soundhole pickup. I usually blend with a microphone for recorded clips, but I really like the pickup. The Buchanan is actually my favorite electric mandolin these days.

Tom, another excellent arrangement and recording. I'm impressed. And I thought you did a great job on Old Brown Shoe as well. I see a trend here and I hope it continues. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to all. Rosemary, there are few of us playing 10-string mandolins, I think it is mainly some Brazilians in the choro scene, and some Celtic players in the UK. It is mandolin scale length but has a larger body for deeper resonance. Mine is a standard model from Thomas Buchanan in England. I believe his is the only one out there with the glued-on pin bridge I prefer.
