Default Au Son des Mandolines (P. Marinier, 1899), mandolin duet

Paul Marinier (1866-1953): "Au son des mandolines" -- Valse espagnole
Arranged for two mandolins by Janvier Pietrapertosa Fils

From "Mandoline-Album", available to download at Mandoisland:

Paul Marinier was a successful bandleader and songwriter in the cabarets of Montmartre, and the resident chansonnier at the "La Lune Rousse" at 36, Boulevard de Clichy (a few doors down from the Moulin Rouge). This is the tune to a song he wrote in 1899, presumably to cash in on the association of mandolins with the Spanish Student bands popular at the time.

Played as a duet on two Italian bowlbacks.

    1890s Umberto Ceccherini mandolin
    1915 Luigi Embergher mandolin
