Default Denver-area luthier who re-topped Tim Moody's Marc Simon mando?

This is a long shot, but my friend Tim Moody passed away two years ago and I bought his mandolin from his estate. It's a great one and I'm trying to get its history straight. Mark Simon says it was his first or second build while he was working with Monteleone at Mandolin Brothers.

Within the last decade Tim had a luthier in the Denver area put a new top on its ! one piece rosewood back, sides, and neck. Tim's friends don't remember who did the work. Does anyone here know some names of Denver-area luthiers who would capable of doing this top-notch work?

    Thanks!

Thumbs up Re: Denver-area luthier who re-topped Tim Moody's Marc Simon mand

Edward Dick at Victor Guitar does restoration work. Like museum quality. I had seen an old oud and another heavily inlaid old guitar there, intricate stuff and marquetry. He had been at Old Town pickin Parlor for some years before he opened his own shop on south Broadway. I find him very knowledgeable and a strong possible candidate. He also runs a luthier school.

Another might be in Boulder, Woodsongs. I have seen their work and it is superb as well.

Another might be , a long shot, Chris Herbert, who had an expertise in Gibson guitar restorations-he may still advertise in the Swallow Hill Music newspaper. I have seem varying levels of restoration, from retopping , renecking and refinishing a late 50s les paul, to a frankly, less than stellar repair on my potato chip pickguard and bridge lift on my old D28.

While the Denver Folklore Center has an association with a repairman next door, in my personal dealing with him, I don't know if he might be a potential. I don't know his history, but I did see an Stromberg archtop copy he built, so he may have the chops. I was less than happy with the job he did on buffing out a deep scratch in my F5, and his charge as well.

Old Town Pickin Parlor has a repair/restoration dept with a fine reputation. I have no first hand knowledge.

Those are who come to mind, without a more specific time period.

Jim Hillburn (he posts here regularly) is a builder in Colo. Springs. Also, there is a mandolin builder near Denver whose creations are called Turkey Creek. Google these two

I just googled both out of curiosity, and bot were found. Hilburn with one "l" is the correct spelling.

Also, I'm in Louisville, near Boulder. Twice voted best place in America to live.
No good ideas on who did the repair though.

I realize this post is three years old, but I'm curious as to whether the OP had found the luthier who did the re-top on the Marc Simon mandolin.
