Smile Eastman oval in a band context

This is a video from a recent gig that I did with my Balkan/klezmer group. It's an eight-piece acoustic band (winds, violin, drums, accordion, bass, mandolin).

As I remember reading through many posts about the sound of Eastman ovals (i.e. - versus F holes, whether they can cut, etc.), I thought this might be a good example of one of these mandolins in an unamplified setting. To me, it's a rather chimey instrument, rather than barky, but quite pleasant. It hangs pretty well with this kind of sound and certainly gets through the band without amplification. I've also switched to flatwounds since this recording.

(And, if it's not obvious from my fingerings, I'm a long-time guitarist and rather recent mandolin enthusiast!)

Strat, left handed, where have I seen that before?

On topic, enjoyed the video, and even clicked on a couple of others. Cool music!

Nice! It's always good to hear a different genre of music.
