Buddy MacMaster has passed away at Age 89

The Dean of Cape Breton Fiddle Music, Hugh Allen "Buddy" MacMaster died last night, about 9:30 local time, at home in rural Western Cape Breton. He is credited with the return of Celtic Fiddle Music and is a holder of the Order of Canada and the Order of Nova Scotia. He was the uncle of World Renown Fiddler, Natalie MacMaster.

One thing I did not know was that he was born into a Gaelic speaking family. Born in Timmins Ontario, to a Cape Breton family, they returned to live in Cape Breton when he was a toddler. Mr MacMaster taught Celtic Fiddle in Nova Scotia as well as often going to Scotland to do Seminars. He was a very dignified man who was known for his talent and his humility.
