Default Dixie Mitchell - Guitar Co. of America

Take a look at this one by Dixie Michell.

Dixie Michell is an independent luthier and has been building and repairing guitars, mandolins, and banjos since her early days working at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville. Her revolutionary, unprecedented advancements in guitar construction and design result in unexcelled sound. She lives in Tulsa with her dog Scrapper, a bunch of cats, and forty-three antique bicycles.

Sorry to all: I misspelled her last name: it is Michell not Mitchell.

Too bad she no longer had pictures of her completed mandolins on her site. There was some discussion of her work on this thread.

Here is s video showing construction:

And one of her playing an acoustic-electric:

Scott linked this Dixie mandolin on the home page for sale on eBay. I like the D'Angelico-style pickguard and the top grille-work.

Apologies (again) for mispelling Dixie's last name.

I've been intrigued by Dixie Michell's mandolins for years. Pretty exciting to find out that this one is only about 30 min. away.

This is the same seller who put that electric up for sale on eBay. Let us know if you go to visit this mandolin.

So has anyone much experience playing one of these mandolins? Some interesting ideas.
