    Re: What tune is this?

It's a Monroe tune for sure. I'll have to look through my recordings to find it. I'll be right back;)
Sorry, I should have read Andy B's post!
  3. Re: My 4th mandolin build, 2nd one built from scratch

Jacob, I'm with you on building mandolins being addictive! I spend way more time working in the shop and have very little time devoted to picking.

Re: New Kelley A model violin style

Bernie, the labor is about the same. Instead of a dovetail neck joint, Iím using the V joint as demonstrated in Siminoffís book. It is fitting with the violin style. Also no celluloid binding. But,...

Here’s a link to the video I did with a string change. I removed the GHS silk and steel and put on J74’s.

Re: New Kelley A model violin style

I appreciate the compliments! As to the tone of the mandolin, I like a lot of bottom end in mandolins. I fell like they are "tinny" enough as is. Contributing to the woody tone is the smaller F...

Re: New Kelley A model violin style

Jim, the bracing is parallel tone bars.

Will, the tune is Fishers hornpipe. I can play it better if I’m not recording. As soon as I hit the record button, I start messing up!
