    Re: Free Waterloo Mandolin

    Why just one, they're small.
  3. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

Exactly right on. Let's hope they got them all.

Re: Gibson destroys hundreds of Firebird X's

Saving my money for a Gibson ES-335 with sunburst finish at GC. They're still making the good stuff boys.

    Re: Gibson F9 Dilemma

Good luck with those voice lessons. I'd buy the new F9.

Re: Gibson destroys hundreds of Firebird X's

There is a video on youtube called :The 10 worst guitars ever made" The Firebird-X is near the top of the list. Gibson just made a bad design in their attempt to keep up with the digital age.

Re: Mandolins on Gibson web site?

Huh? Do you mean "they will not get equal consideration"?
  8. Re: my complete guitar restoration (July-2019)

The tuners and bridge are not wrong for the guitar. That Jubilee is a slotted head, steel string guitar by design I believe, not a classical. It may benefit from a change to nylon strings due to...

Re: Do people ever change their strings?

Randi, fiddle strings are way easier than mandolin. Remember to change them one at a time to maintain pressure on the sound post. If the post falls over you're in trouble. A pair of needle nose...

    Re: Musician Jokes

So what joke goes with the Empire State building at the 12th fret? The whole banjo is actually funny.

    Re: Carbon Fiber Mandolin

Even inexpensive mandolins have a certain attractiveness about them, the wood grain, the finish and mandolin mystique. I would be careful to keep an attractive appearance in the list of...
  12. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

I would not mistake that Stradivarius guitar headstock for the Gibson "open book" design.

    Re: Walmart mandolin

It does come with a hard storage bag, so there is that. Since the description mentions some features twice I am curious why there's no mention of an adjustable truss rod. Maybe there is nothing...

    Re: Kentucky Mandolins

The KM-272 has a radius fingerboard. I like the tone of mine and for the money it's a great oval hole option.

Re: Giving credit where credit is due

Upon further study of my Snark tuners I noticed the following condition. When the tuners were new the ball moved freely in the socket but as the months go by the ball begins to stick in the socket. ...

Re: Giving credit where credit is due

I have three Snark tuners, black, blue and red. It's been several years at least and none have broken. I don't believe they just break but a rethink of the design or material selection may be in...

Re: Should I take my Eastman MD305 on vacation?

Take your mandolin and be thankful you don't play the upright bass. Like flutes, harmonicas, violins and ukuleles mandolins enjoy that special niche called small.

    Re: Ashokan Farewell Tabs anyone?

I cast my vote with Mulitdon. I will also add that the tune is not that hard to learn by ear as it is slow and suitable for beginner/intermediate level. If you need the TAB or standard notation...

    Re: The Mandolin Store

I believe that The Guitar Center is a Gibson mandolin dealer. I purchased my F5G from the Richmond, VA store in 2014. They had two in stock at the time.
  20. Re: Moving past my F9...looking for recommendations.

As an aside from the main topic, I visited the Sorensen website and on the home page the business is described as a "one man shop". Can this be? With a wide product offering of high quality...

Re: Buying on the rebound and gambling

So you made a bad purchase and then returned it and got your money back, then bought three other instruments and saved $400. You've still got that $400 to spend.

    Re: The racehorse Mandocello

Have not been keeping tabs on the horse lately, but he used to be a first place pick because of his speed neck and lighter saddle. I believe he retired after pulling a ham string in the stretch.
