Yes, it did the trick but I can't seem to get to it anymore because there are too many cases stacked in front of it. Yes, I am a sick man.

If you are planning on filling the holes and re-drilling it would make more sense to get a matched drill bit and dowel set that would allow you to enlarge the hole and have the correct sized dowel to...
I was under the impression the backs were laminated arched with a brace. That's what Gruhn's book says as well.

And no self respecting slimeball would keep the cases where they could be counted. I will note that when I finally built shelving for all my instruments there was a major blowout in the house. They...
It should be a Harmony Monterey A style. They made the Monterey from the mid 30's to the late 70's. I don't know if they kept the same model number all those years. They should be all wood and...
I was actually going to say that. :)
Her: Is that a new mandolin?
Him: No, this is same one I've had for years. I just cleaned it up a bit.
I reported it as well. I suspect we'll see more of these.
There are individual mini tuners used mostly for guitars, just make sure you get the right orientation. They are usually sold in sets of 6, 3 on each side so you might have to buy two sets to get 8...
Tuners are measure by the spacing from center of the post to the center of the post. You may or may not be able to find this size post spacing. The first thing you need to do is to measure it.

That's not even a good fake Gibson. It's an import that someone has added a label to. And of course it's a pawn shop that got taken to the cleaners again. We had a wave of these several years ago,...
It's no earlier than the late 70's, probably early to mid 80's.
I see this as a win win Allen. There's one less banjo available and one more mandolin available.
I have a set just like them with black buttons that came off a no name Korean H5 style mandola. All Parts has sold them in the past. I'm assuming they are Korean but have never been able to tie down...
They are attached to the underside of the top.
I merged the two threads.
That is beautiful, Waverly tuners and all. Very nice.
The inlay on the fretboard isn't stellar either.
If it was me I wouldn't rush to glue that, it might have been there for the last 75 years and be stable. I would make sure the guitar is properly humidified and watch it to see if it changes. If it...
That would explain why the top is still intact. It's hard to see things on my phone. Old eyes.
I wonder if there's a soundpost under that bridge?
Joseph Campanella Mick.
I was going to ask the same thing last night but I've been too busy to stop. I've been around a while, I've seen a whole lot of kit instruments but I've never seen anything like this one in the...
I agree with the seller about the label. There's no way this is that old. I do believe it's either close to 1900 or somebody went to great lengths to make it look like it was. This looks like someone...
I actually had a similar set that laid around here for years until I sent them s a gift to a friend. I can't even remember what I got them off of, most likely an old bowlback.
Those are Schaller tuners, made in Germany, and used by Gibson and just about everyone else at the time this was built. Greg Rich, formerly of Gibson banjo fame is a well known member of the musical...
