    Re: If You Are Able…

An important point, Simon. Social distancing could lead to real problems of isolation, and physical distancing is a much better term. As Pops1 says, we are all in this together, and maybe society...

Re: Quite ill with a trach and a feeding tube

Here's a little surprise for you, Dan.

I liked your recent song "Vader Tavern" so much that I learnt and recorded it as a kind of get-well-soon message for you. I don't normally sing that much,...

    Re: The Obvious 12/26 Question

Not a mandolin, and not exactly a Christmas present, but I took delivery of a telecaster style guitar that's been in the works for over two years. The body is made out of a 1951 Fender steel guitar...

Thank you for your follow up! Means a lot. I love that it was a family endeavor. So cool! :)
  13. Re: I put new strings on and positioned the bridge myself

Get a job at a music store and teach ten rookies a day how to change strings, you learn! I used to tell people I’d do the first two changes for free after that, it was going to be ten bucks each...
  14. Re: Need some help from a French-speaking mandolin player...

Oh, that's funny. I don't have American ears, so I don't know how to answer that :) I have French ears. I was born and raised in France. My entire family was, come to think of it, I'm the only one...

  16. Re: Need some help from a French-speaking mandolin player...

Simon is right..it should be "sa voix"!
  17. Re: Need some help from a French-speaking mandolin player...

It doesn’t change the pronunciation, but line 7 could equally be ‘sa voix’, meaning her voice, rather than ‘ça voix’, meaning this voice.
It’s a Quebecois accent which might explain the different...
  18. Re: Need some help from a French-speaking mandolin player...

Here is what I think the lyrics are:
    Noël c'est l'amour
    Viens chanter toi mon frère
    Noël c'est l'amour
    C'est un coeur éternel

    Du temps de ma mère
    Ça voix familière
    Chantais douce et claire...
