    Re: Clark 2-point Mandolins

I picked up my Clark 2-point here on the Cafe. I sent it to Austin for a little warranty work and he installed a K&K at that time. He was awesome to work with on both accounts. The K&K sounds good...

Re: Would this be better than a Blue Chip?

What we need is a custom beveling service for Tile tags. "The tone is in the Tile...never lose your tone".
  4. Re: Trouble with tapping noise from my pick ups

As Len points out, this can be minimized with a decent EQ. I had a similar problem with pick click on my Clark (K&K twin transducer). Do you have an EQ in your signal chain? If so let us know what it...

    Re: Haptic Metronome anyone?

On the surface I initially thought, "stupid waste of technology". Then I realized multiple units could be sync'd to a single source. That would make them quite useful in the studio or for band...
  6. Re: How do you justify a high end mandolin? Or do you?

It's a personal decision for sure, but I've learned a few lessons in life. Vehicles are depreciating assets. Yes they may enable you to make money, but if kept long enough they are eventually...
  7. Re: Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Arranged for Mandolin,

John beat me to the punch. Even for those intermediate sight readers, I would think that the TAB would be valuable in leaning these pieces at a quicker pace. Knowing which note to play and how to...

Re: How do you sing Bluegrass Harmony?

Get a copy of Skaggs and Rice. You can try to match Tony and Ricky, or you can harmonize with them. It's something you learn by doing, you're not going to find a magic book.
  11. Re: My new Almuse 'Rickenbacker 325' tenor guitar by Pete Mallins

Pete does such awesome work. I'm sure he appreciated something other than a Strat or Tele. I know he had fun with the Jazzmaster Tenor he did for me. Your 325 is beautiful, enjoy it.

    Re: Rigel A Natural

I've seen them go for $800-900. So that $595 BIN price was pretty good. If I didn't have one sitting next to me, I'd be on this one...LOL.

    Re: My first whammy!

    Couple of questions Pete.

Is that tremolo bar shorter than the one that shipped with my JazzTenor?

If it is, would it be a good fit for the tremolo unit you used for my JazzTenor?

    I've...

Re: Recording Interface for Mac OS X Yosemite

What you need to look for are interfaces that are USB class compliant. This means that they do not require additional drivers to function with the operating system.

  18. Re: Eastwood Warren Ellis tenor with whammy bar?

The floating trem is setup pretty stiff. When I first took possession of the JazzTenor, Pete had it strung a little light. With that setup I would physically push the strings sharp. I swapped them...
  19. Re: Eastwood Warren Ellis tenor with whammy bar?

It's a great instrument, the JazzTenor. Pete really threw himself into it and went the extra mile to meet (actually exceed) my expectations.
  20. Re: Eastwood Warren Ellis tenor with whammy bar?

That looks like a 6 string bridge to me. Same approach we took on my JazzTenor. I'd think that if Eastwood would be going production with this, it would be a 4 string bridge. I would like a...

Pretty much everything Pete does is custom/commissioned. Since I wanted to go as stock "Jazzmaster" as possible, it was really fun figuring things out with Pete. I think we both learned a few things...
