Re: Like this site but for guitar....

AGF and the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum are the ones I visit daily.

I tend to prefer the UMGF.

    Re: Waverly Tuners tight

    +1 on Tri-Flow.
I've used the one available in bike stores and it works great.

The last mandolin tuners I used it on was a '27 F2. Only takes a drop or two.

    Re: First pickguard Attempt

    I think it looks great!

Very cleanly cut and matches the aesthetic of the instrument very well IMO.

    Re: No more EXP74's?

I believe the XT's are taking over from the EXP's.

The XT's sound pretty good and just a little different than the EXP's. Like they're a little bit "broken in" out of the box.

  9. Aluminum saddle on vintage Gibson ovals

I've seen a few 1919-1920 era A3's with an aluminum saddle, and was wondering how and if these saddles effect the tone of the instrument.

I imagine it would accentuate the high end, but I could...

    Re: St. Anne’s Reel

    Great work!

IMO playing it nice and slow showcases the beauty of the tune.

I see you're in SC...I grew up in Boalsburg, but have been in NorCal since '96.....small world!

That is a GREAT sounding MT2!

Really beautiful.....it's a Collings.... of course it's beautiful...and dig that it has a James tailpiece.

    Congrats and enjoy!
  15. Re: John Reischman & The Jaybirds, Deep End Sessions

I think he may have had it on loan for a little while. I asked Patrick about the A5 last year and he said it's probably or IS, memory is hazy, the best Loar he's had the chance to play.

    Last I...

    Completely agree!
I always admired Sam's playing on this record, and have tried to steal as much as possible from it!

  18. Re: Strap attachment - A style, no body button

I do as well.....I play with the strap on the shoulder and not around my neck, so no balance problems for me.

I did a few clinics in the past with guitar player Kenny Smith.
