    Re: Starter Tools

Like most things it is much cheaper to buy used. I often stop at garage sales and flea markets just to see what they have. Most people now a days don’t know what a plane, spoke shave, or a scraper...

    Re: NJ/NYC Suburbs

There is a jam at the Ocean County Library in Point Plesant Beach on (I believe) the third Tuesday of every month. If you call the library I’m sure they will confirm the time and date.

    Re: A Titebond Glue Question

I had a gallon of Titebond that I thought went bad after a year, since it seemed to stay rubbery after it cured. When I called Titebond they assured me that it was still good, and the rubbery...

My pride is worth more than a store’s insult. I was once at a sportsman’s show looking at some fly fishing rods and started to negotiate a deal. The salesman noticed that I was wearing a well know,...

Re: Received my frist mandolin, now what?

I learned the basics by watching you tube. Take some of it with a grain of salt. Search around and find what works for you. After I got comfortable with it I found someone that was willing to take...

    Re: Darkening Walnut

Walnut is an open grain wood. Try to find what they call wood filler stain. The filler stain fills, the pores of the wood and also stains it. I haven’t seen it in years, but I’m sure that an...
  11. Re: looking for supplier of black willow preferably near the east

Check with some of your local tree cutters. They may know of someone that has a mill that cuts odd species of wood. You would of course have to season the wood.
  12. Re: Cleaning Mouse feces and urine out of an old garage kept guit

Why don’t you call an exterminator or a mold specialist. I’m sure that they have come across the stain and smell problem in the past and they could have the ansewer.

Re: Strap peg keeps popping out

Just glue it in place as stated above and be done with it. Why risk having the strap come off because of a loose pin. If you drop your mandolin there would be damage weather it had a pin or not.

Old band saws are worth restoring if need be. Check to see if the blade tracks well, that the bearings run true, and that the motor works. Im a retired shop teacher and always had a Delta in the...

    Re: Super Blue Blood Moon

Funny, but last night I placed one of my mandos on a stand in a room next to my bedroom. At 5:45 I awoke to a moon beam shining on the mando.
