Re: 8/5-8/9 - Ashokan Bluegrass Camp

Went here last year. Was the last weekend in October but in spite of the weather it was nice. This looks like about a five day camp and a much better time of year for it. Got to look into this.

The only other thing I even try and play besides the mandolin is the radio. No, I'll bring some Blues Harps.

    Re: Mid-range Case Recommendations

I had a spare Travelite laying around that I was trying to sell. Actually glad now it didn't sell. I got a mandolin in a cash/trade. It came in one of the cheapest cases I've ever seen. I ended up...

    Re: Sam Bush hospitalized!!!

Brings to mind a bout I had with Diverticulitis. In my case I was only hospitalized overnight. However the pain and discomfort beforehand was mighty acute.

    Re: Standing position

Yes, I noted the same thing when I saw Del and Dawg about three years ago. David does hold his mandolin up quite high on his upper chest. He didn't hold it that high years ago from some other videos...

Re: Wow. What won't they try next?

That's what scared me off. If it's that rare, who knows where you could even buy strings?

Which beats trying to sell four at $2500.00 a pop.

Wow. What won't they try next?

I'll admit. I am no expert. However I think there are too many zeros in the asking price.

Re: Del McCoury Band w/ Thile

Ronnie's son, Heaven. Saw him play with Del and Dog a couple of years or more ago at the Ryman in Nashville. Late June of 2016 to be exact. He was playing in a group called "Broomestix" for some...

  15. Re: How much should I ask? Weber Black Ice Octave + mandolin

I looked around and found these "asking" prices. Though the Mandolin Store was out of stock on both, when in stock they were asking $5999.00 for the Mandolin and $7499.00 for the Octave. There was a...

    Re: Arnold Cross Mandolins

For you North and South Carolina residents. Looks as if there is a place in Myrtle Beach called Guitar Zan, that also carries Arnold Cross mandolins. Guitar Zan? I recall that being a sort of comedic...

  20. Re: Instrument auction, Cumberland, MD. 04/27/2019

Might be real interesting to attend even if I didn't bring my new, "no interest for 15 months" credit card. About a 2.5 hour drive for me on a sleepy Saturday morning. Out by where they hold Del-fest...

Re: Not all Collings hold their value

I've had pretty decent success buying NOS. (New old stock.) Generally those are priced as if they are used. Plus you get the warranty. If I do end up selling, I barely take a hit at all.

Re: Adjustment for Eastman Tuning Pegs

Is it brand new? That just doesn't sound correct at all. The last mandolin I had that was doing what you described had cheap, poorly installed (not seated correctly) tuners. Especially the part about...
