    Re: Flames Birch on sale

While lovely, curly birch can be just miserable to machine. Carving the back may not be too bad, but I would be very careful with the sides. I’ve planed many boards dead smooth only to have them...
  3. Re: Thoughts on latest version Eastman MD915 blonde?

I'd second that. Punchy bluegrassy instruments. I have an A and an F.

    Re: Planer set up?

Used to be sharpening in place was the thing. We learned on a Buss planer when I was an apprentice. Years later I worked with an Oliver, similar configuration, jointer bar and grinder. Sniping is...

  6. Re: Fiddle Hell Online Workshops April 15-18

I looked at the schedule, but the presentation of the schedule was incomprehensible to me.

Re: Collings Vs. Northfield Vs. Kelley

Having played none of those instruments, I’d go with the prettiest. Many folks judge by appearance or brand anyway, so why not?:)

    Re: If You Use MuseScore

So, you could take a tef file from TablEdit and import it into Musescore to add a harmony part, maybe easier than directly in TablEdit. Or not. Lot more capabilities than I am using.

    Re: If You Use MuseScore

Depends on platform. I just opened it on my iPad, and ‘browse’ is one of the headers. On my computer, it opens to the ‘dashboard’ page, complete with search window and separate ‘browse’ header. ...

    Re: Sam knows all!!!

A recording made in a living room and evaluated on a handheld device is certainly not ideal. But he’s a great player on anything.

It’s a charity raffle, donate or not.

    Re: If You Use MuseScore

I haven't created any pdfs and wouldn't upload anyone else's, so I never noticed that feature. (I just found it). I have transposed other Musescore files.

I often search using google 'site...
  14. Re: Intermediate Mando - Good Mando to Step up to?

Ratliff Countryboys are a great step up. You'll go a long time before you 'outgrow' one. I certainly haven't.

    Re: If You Use MuseScore

I've only transposed tunes in Musescore format. I wasn't aware it could manipulate pdfs.

Are you saving the files in Musescore format or pdf?

Re: How to practice Circle of 5ths

There is just the circle of fourths. It can be run in two directions. For everyone who, like you, insists that the *direction of dominance* is the "circle of fifths" there is at least one who...

    Re: MuseScore software

If you want to write, I believe you have to join. I think its $49/yr, (just checked, it’s $29) and maybe has a monthly rate as well. You can use it on a computer and a tablet for that price. It...

Re: Three string chords - good and bad?

Except for bluegrass chopping, I’m using 3 fingers. I drop the root, and sometimes the fifth, when making chords with extensions. Three finger chord shapes are movable from the top 3 strings to the...
