I really like the green color-perhaps Blue Chip can figure out a way to actually make that color - it WOULD make them easier to find!

Re: The virus, the economy, mandolins and you

I am a healthcare provider, and still designated an "essential employee," so I keep working, despite being in the high-risk group (65 years old, mild asthma.) I wouldn't have it any other way - I am...

    Re: Waiting for UPS

The last 5 minutes of waiting for your replacement at work so you can go home are exponentially longer than the first 5 minutes of your shift. I think waiting for UPS to bring a new mandolin...

    Re: Informal Poll

If my playing ever improves enough to warrant it and I have the money, yes. Realistically, is it ever going to happen? No. But that's okay, I'm happy with what I have.

Re: Vinaccia vs Embergher vsCalace Video

Calace, then Embergher, then Vinaccia. I prefer the slightly warmer tones, although I would take any of them.

    Re: When You First . . .

Chris Thile, mainly because I mostly prefer Classical and Folk. I have recently become more into Celtic, and Bluegrass/Country is necessary because I sometimes go to jams.

    Re: Shout out to Collings

I was wondering, because I can push my Collings pretty hard and it's really loud! It also will play extremely soft, and very different sound from playing near the bridge versus near the fretboard.

    Re: Social Distancing

I have to be nice to people at work. At home, I prefer to be left alone to do my own things. I don't particularly dislike people, but I am a loner by nature. Social distancing is no problem for me.

Re: Need Advice on Selling/Upgrading Mandolin

As a purchaser, I would not want to have to do a refret. The chip in the finish would be a non-issue to me. If the tuners work correctly (hold the strings tight,) the fact that they are cheap would...

    Re: Finger joint fusion?

I know of no one who has had a finger joint fusion. Sorry, I am no help. But I have sympathy for the joint pain, the older I get, the more my joints hurt, especially when the weather changes.

  19. Re: D'Addario's new Chris Thile signature mandolin pick

  20. Re: Anyone have information on this very unique bowlback?

No, but it is something I would love to have and play, as I am guessing several of the other bowlback fans here would. Very nice find! Tell her to enjoy it!

Re: Any help identifying old Mandolin?

Go and see it, if you like it and the sound, I would offer $150. I have several bowlbacks, paid less than $200 for each of them, and enjoy them for their sound. That's the main thing - do YOU Like...
