    I believe Max changes bracing sometimes based on the top wood choice. For instance the port orford cedar tops (think Jill has one) has a transverse brace, like the old Gibsons.

    I've an Ellis A4 and love it. It's an exceptional mandolin. I've also a Girouard oval, another long neck x-braced oval. The Girouard might be worth considering.

    Already have a Girouard, Gibson and Ellis oval hole, so sights are now set on Gilchrist, Heiden, Kimble and that Monty oval! We can dream....
