  1. Re: Good Tone - How long does it actually take?

Try recording yourself playing and then listen to it. I'm pretty new too but I do that a lot... practice, play, record, listen, repeat.

  5. Re: Angeline The Baker, with Drums and Stuff

Cool, I'm always down for weird stuff. How'd you post that so the play button shows up?

Did you catch my Kanye West cover? Mine won't show the play button, you have to download the song.

    Re: A basic classical piece

Do you read treble clef? Try The Complete Mandolinist by Marilynn Mair. Lots of simple, short "classical style" pieces right off the bat and they gradually increase in difficulty.

  17. Re: The weight balance between the head and body

I didn't like the way my Eastman MD315 balanced either... especially with the strap around the f curl. I started putting a thin piece of leather under the strings below the nut. It balances great...

Re: Redbird River - how to play

    The first run up is basically an A minor arpeggio (low to high) - A - C - E - A - C - E - G - A.

    I think the bluesy lick right before she sings is: A string (Eb - E - C) - (D string) G - Eb - E -...
