Re: Dreaming of a Great A5 under $6000

I know there's diminishing returns as you go up but I can't imagine an A getting too much better than this one:...

Re: My band asked me to stop playing guitar

Some of my early bands asked me to stop playing guitar. And I didn't even have any other instruments then.

    Re: Octave Mandolin suggestions please

Octave mandolins are fun and versatile.

Gold Tone, Eastman, and Pono are all decent. What do you want to do with your octave?

The Eastman with carved top, short scale and floating bridge will...

    Re: best mandolin for 700.00

You won't go too far wrong with an Eastman 315 or 505/504. You're pretty close to a Sawchyn beavertail if you like the flattop sound.

    Re: Northfield F5S Review

    Thanks for the review.

Like you, I've been through a lot of mandolins. Like you, I stick to one in, one out. Like you, I ended up with a Northfield NF5S.

I've had it for a couple years and I...

Re: The virus, the economy, mandolins and you

We've lost around 2k. Likely to lose some more.

The bigger thing is we are "sheltering" at home with 3 kids two of whom have severe autism. They rely on routine and well....not so much of that...

    Re: Shout out to Collings

After a long search it came down to a Northfield NF5S or a Collings MT. Both are great value and I suspect I would have been happy with either. I've played and heard a lot of MTs since then but no...

    Re: Gig bag for mandola?

You might check with Gold Tone. They make all different size instruments including mandolas, big ukes, short tenors, and funky "folkternative instruments". One of their gig bags might be close....

Here's what I did. With the adjustable neck support and the memory foam velcroed in I can adjust it to fit many different instruments. Cost around $90 if I remember....

    Re: Capo for Octave/Bouzouki

I like the Thalia. They tend to have a lot of sales and B stock so not as expensive as they look at first glance.

Re: Peghead Nation vs OAIM for ITM Lessons

Re: Playing Mandola - Tips & Tricks

I think if you spend time with the mandola you'll find your way into it. It's kind of versatile. It can be played like a big mando but it doesn't have to be.
