Re: What Do You Use for Editing Standard Notation

MuseScore here too, :mandosmiley: the slightly older version 2.1 though. I don't know where y'all get the money for stuff like Sibelius or Finale, that sort of thing is not within reach for me as an...
  3. Re: San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra Virtual performance

Thanks! That works. :) Wonderful music, very enjoyable! :mandosmiley:
  4. Re: San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra Virtual performance

Video still doesn't work. How is anyone else seeing it?

Not a browser issue, as it happens on both computer (local Ethernet) *and* phone (testing using phone-carrier "data" from many miles away,...

Re: Banish Misfortune - melody and harmony

    Clean picking Ginny.

I can but I choose not to. I like the vibes of it slow.

One of my videos from a couple years ago, very slow and has different-than-usual chords which I like:

  7. Re: Gibson opposes Collings' headstock trademark registration, ci

Mind-boggling. The headstocks in question don't look anything at all alike.

Why doesn't Gibson just trademark the whole 8-string idea while they're at it, make everyone else go 7-string or...

Re: the first 3 tunes you learned?

Some of the music styles, probably yeah. But mandolin was not my dad's main/best instrument by far, and his mandolin playing could probably have benefited from more dynamics or expression or...

Re: the first 3 tunes you learned?

    1. Yet another "Soldier's Joy". :whistling: Must be the most common oldtime dance tune ever!

    2. Either "Cielito Lindo" or part of "La Traviata", can't remember which of those preceded the other...

Re: Strings for Nerve Damaged Hands

If nothing else helps much, and if you want to pull out all the stops and sort of go extreme... this works for me anyway (arthritis)...

    1. Go ultra-light *and* then tune the whole mandolin down...

Re: Tabledit Question about tied notes

For normal conditions, the following works for me anyway, using a slightly older version of TablEdit (v2.78b1c). This technique might not be effective if the music has timing errors though.

    Re: A / Am / A7 chords?

Same here. I don't have a whole lot of choice, as arthritis reduces my options. Although I go for more open strings rather than barres.

Huh... can't find it on Google Play. There are some similarly-named things though. Maybe I just missed it. Oh well.

I was just hoping for a little improvement on my existing Android chord app,...

    Re: Describe your MAS progression

    1. Cheap one. Because "it was there" and already had strings on it, so I picked it up to play it. It was the only mandolin in the house at the time. Horrible, horrible instrument. Awful. Awful! Old...
