  1. Re: Johnny Gimble on EMando with Bob Wills "Buffalo Gals" 1964-5

Re: Beyerdynamic M160 ribbon mic (video)

Nothing like the sound of a great ribbon mic. My fav is still the Royer SF12with the RCA 44bx a close second. Just get the AEA TRP as the preamp!

  7. Re: How to practice: Play very slow | Tal Wilkenfeld and Lex F

It is my belief that you don't JUST practice slow, but you have to do it ENOUGH and CONSISTENTLY to get excellent co-ordination between your hands, which is where quality tone comes from.

    Re: Fake Gibson oval hole?

I'm no expert in old Gibsons so take this with a grain of salt. This looks like 2 I've seen many years ago and was told they were both from the early 30's.

    Gibson, especially the guitars and...

    Re: Improving tone.

I think you need to spend at least some time every practice playing slower than 50% of normal speed. You don't just practice this way, but you do need to devote a decent percent of your practice to...

I prefer the oval over f hole for jazz playing. Much less percussive and makes jazz phrasing much easier to my ear. Plus I like the warm fuller sound.
