I want to say that I had decided the emando strings were probably D'Addario, but that may well be due to having been looking all over to try to put together my own custom set and only seeing...
Saw that one. I'm not sure why I decided to click around and see it since I had convinced myself that I was going to wait to pick up an octave until I got more passable at the regular mandolin and...
Super resurrect, but found you guys again on one of my spotify playlists and on another listen through (or 5) I'm really enjoying it. Glad you posted here!
Anyone here buy one of the new batch? If so, can you post an image of the tailpiece?
I'm curious if they actually did start putting different ones on, because after they promised me a different...
Finally got the tailpiece. As far as I can tell it's identical to the old one. Why did I have to wait 2 months for the new and improved version to be ready again....?
Good news is that it's...
One of the sets from emando.com. I believe it was the octave mandolin bronze light set.
Well I'm not sure they've actually had a second shipment of them make it over.
The fact that the tailpieces seem to be awfully unreliable probably doesn't help.
Good news on that front btw....
My one drywalling experience was the edges around a door of a bathroom. That was awful to do.
Also that mandocello is looking gorgeous. I'm jealous of the future owner.
I've got the JJB with the carpenter jack run through that di/preamp Colorado al linked. It sounds pretty natural to me. Gotten a few compliments on it at church. I'm sure the sound could be improved...
Ya, the pickups are definitely an interesting mix. I hadn't done much besides make a few test recordings with them and enjoyed the way it sounds acoustically, but probably will be experimenting more...
Glad to hear it arrived safely. Let us know what you find!
Huh. I hadn't thought that I needed another mandolin, much less a flattop. After reading this thread maybe I do...
I've got the KM-250 and it's great. Wound up upgrading to an Eastman 614 because there was a great deal in the classifieds, but by sound I'd still be perfectly happy with the Kentucky.
Well my (too long) time with the pick sampler has ended. Sorry for taking so long and great thanks to all those who have contributed picks!
When I first got the pick sampler I was barely able to...
Have now had an hour or two of playing with them (so far mandolin only, plan to also test on mandocello and guitar).
So far mostly what I've determined is that I'm not a good enough player or...
And sampler 1 came today! Got home late so I didn't really have a whole lot of time to play around with it (and what I did was quietly to not disturb the neighbors), but I can't wait to explore it...
It may just be me, but I actually really like the looks of some of the mandolins without binding. I think that a Weber Gallatin looks every bit as good as their other models, just a little different...
You blazed through those quickly! Thanks for the thoughts on what you found interesting and I can't wait!
I have one of those gold tone "mandocellos" that some would call a strangely tuned archtop guitar.
Personally I have no idea where to rate it. It certainly doesn't sound quite like a guitar, but...
Check out this thread (https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?98399-Mandolin-Set-up-E-Book-by-Rob-Meldrum). Rob Meldrum put together a great ebook that answers all of your questions. (The...
This weber F4 looks amazing, and that price for a good condition weber seems great.

Looking at the Mike Marshall video again and having some of the same problems as OP, how do you avoid collapsing your palm against the neck when playing chop chords? I can get my pinky up there just...
I should consider that. Bringing the strings back up to pitch really reminded me how much tension is in them. I think I did something with the (very amateur) way I adjusted the bridge to try to get...
Still a shame that it happened, but Elderly talked to GoldTone and they got me a replacement tailpiece shipped nice and quick and it was a nice easy fix once I got the replacement. That being said,...
I guess I'll stop playing so the show doesn't end then. I quite like it.
