  1. Re: Issue when responding to classified ads?

    Awesome! Thanks!
  2. Re: Issue when responding to classified ads?

Thanks. I've seen the warning a bunch of times so I assumed that it was on every email sent from the classifieds. I guess that I should look into another email address for when I respond to ads...
  3. Issue when responding to classified ads?

    Howdy,

I don't really know if this is the right place to post this.

I have been having issues when responding to classified ads here on the Cafe.

I will send multiple emails to a seller...
  4. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

Thanks for the info! When I finally have some free time again I think that I will search out a book on gears!
  5. Re: Are Gibson Sam Bush strings being discontinued?

I thought the same thing, but I was transferred to a department that was supposed to know. I also really don't trust much of what I hear from Guitar Center employees as I have been told many things...
  6. Re: Are Gibson Sam Bush strings being discontinued?

I just received an email from juststrings stating the following:

"For a period of three months or so last year we couldn’t get them. I think they thought about discontinuing the set but the...
  7. Re: Are Gibson Sam Bush strings being discontinued?

I also purchased a few sets for Juststrings a few weeks ago. I just find it strange that the people at Gibson won't say that they aren't being discontinued!? And then there are the places that used...
  8. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

I am guessing that Adrian was right about the screws bottoming out as well.

I think that I am now just starting to understand backlash (maybe!). Is it basically the amount of space needed between...
  9. Are Gibson Sam Bush strings being discontinued?

Does anyone happen to know if the Sam Bush strings are being discontinued?

I happened to swing into a Guitar Center the yesterday and asked if they had any Gibson Sam Bush mandolin strings and...
  10. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

If your question is aimed at me, the old Washburn's tuners function better when the gears are fairly tight. On the other hand, the tuners on one of the Regal mandolins that I have definitely work...
  11. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

I learn by trial and error. Since I knew that I wasn't going to hurt anything my loosening the screw a little, I decided to loosen it just to see what would happen. I don't take anything that I...
  12. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

Well I tried this out on the tuners of an old Regal. I used what I already had at the house which was a fine valve grinding compound. The tuners on the Regal would turn fine and then bind when you...
  13. Re: Input needed on how to go about regluing a neck!

Let us know how it turns out!
  14. Re: eBay seller refuses return - what would you do?

This thread really got me thinking.

I am starting to get nervous about selling on eBay. If you send out a perfectly good instrument and the buyer doesn't wait for it to adjust to the...
  15. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

I meant excessively expensive. It's great that people will pay that much and I am sure they are decent tuners, but they are just not for me.
  16. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

Both of the sets of tuners that I had acted pretty much the same way when off and when installed. Also, the holes were properly drilled.
  17. Re: Input needed on how to go about regluing a neck!

Thanks, I was bitten by the bug quite along time ago! I've restored a car, a vintage Harley, and too many instruments to count! It is an addiction! And I always take my time. I am incapable of...
  18. Re: Input needed on how to go about regluing a neck!

Thanks. The only thing that I wished that I did different was not accidentally whacking the neck into a vice that is mounted to my workbench as it tore out some little pieces of grain right by the...
  19. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

That might help. I was thinking that spinning each tuner with the drill was doing the same thing, but this would speed up the process. The only thing I could see as an issue is that string tension...
  20. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

I didn't knowingly buy junk!?! I thought that I could count on Stew Mac to sell a quality product. Just because something is made in Asia doesn't automatically mean it is junk. There are both good...
  21. Re: Input needed on how to go about regluing a neck!

Well I got the mandolin back together and after a quick setup it plays real nice and doesn't sound halve bad. I am going to stick a Tonerite on it for a while and see what happens! Thanks again!

  23. Re: Can't find a Mando case? Try a Ukulele case!

For some reason I didn't even think about hard shell uke cases, but I have been checking out uke gig bags for quite a while now. I've found many decent uke bags for much cheaper than an equivalent...
  24. Re: Am I expecting too much from Stew Mac's Golden Age tuners?

I would have sent them back with the set that these replaced, but then I wouldn't have any tuners until I was able to find some vintage tuners at a reasonable price. Although I did just fix the neck...
  25. Re: Input needed on how to go about regluing a neck!

Just in case this thread does get locked down, I would like to thank everyone for their insight. It's been a great help and I really do appreciate everyone sharing their time and knowledge.
