    Re: 2020 NAMM Show Report

I really like the varnish on the 515. Any chance Eastman will bring the varnish option to the 614 or 615?

Gloss or Satin finish? Sound difference?

I know this may be a generalization - but in general - which has the most "wood" sound - gloss or satin? I love varnish finishes, but one does not always get lucky enough to have it!

Re: eastman md515 vs loar lh600

I love the 515 varnish (thought I prefer a wider nut).
    It has a great tone.
I put a cumberland bridge on it and it made it even better!

Re: Import Flatiron Festival vs Eastman MD515

Try to find a 515 Varnish. They are wonderful. Also, try to get an upgraded bridge (Cumberland) - it improves it as well. A lot of mando for the money!

    Re: Heiden vs Northfield GOM

On GOBM - Mowry and Girouard are excellent! Have not tried the Heiden. I did try a Northfield and I do not think it was as good as the Mowry or Girouard. But it could have been the particular one.

Thank you. Neck seems rather straight. Good information about avoid the deeper slots. The brekke bridge is rather unusual - there are these two sort of triangular pieces of wood in the middle of...
  11. Lower action on bridge - brekke - may relate to more

Hi - I have a 2009 (I think) octave mando 22 inch scale - Weber with brekke bridge.
Appears to be the original bridge as there is no metal.
    It is not low enough.
I want to take it to a luthier. ...

Old thread, I know. But I have been hearing that the Weber shop has undergone improvements in the last year or so. Can anyone confirm this, or relate experience with recent builds? Thanks.

Eastman 515V (perhaps slightly used) can be excellent sounding and a lot of mando for the money. Some are better than others.
