    Re: Pango Mandocello

I bought one of their mandolins and I like it quite a lot! But they may be fudging their reviews. I wouldn't be surprised with that from a Chinese factory. Anyhow, the mandolin is great!

  2. Re: Post A picture of your favorite "A" model

I bought this from a cafe member and I couldn't be happier. It is an Afanti A5 (model# PMD-717).
I love the tortoise binding against the amber finish. It plays great and has a great full sound!...

    Re: K&K for mandolin

You can buy the jjb pickup and tapastring Jack for less than the cost of a standard K&K.
When I do a tapastring install, I buy the 1/8" right angle cable end from tapastring. Then I buy a high...

    Re: K&K for mandolin

You can have K&K, or my preferred pickup jjb, made without a jack and ready for a Tapastring jack, and buy the jack for mandolin direct from tapastring. Just specify "no jack - ready for tapastring"...

  8. Re: Any clues about this British-made mandolin?

It doesn't seem to be that old to me, unless the tuners have been replaced. Any photos of the back of the headstock? They look like Schaller MNI3 machine heads. Those have not been around since the...

Sure thing! If you find one and buy it, let us know how it goes.

I agree that the reps from Morgan Monroe are great to work with! I was interested in a MM-MC100 Mandocello from them and could not...

Re: Really need some help identifying

I'm not quite sure why you're obsessed with the Sycamore back and sides vs Maple. From the description I've seen at

  11. Re: Moving past my F9...looking for recommendations.

I'd set a budget and then play everything you can around that price.
I played a Pava F5 Pro the other day that knocked my socks off!

    Re: Unfinished scrolls

Those whitish/tan flecks look like splatter from buffing compound to me.
Are you sure that the discoloration is from trying to polish inside there? Could it be from the leather of your strap? Either...

Re: Man I need a good tuner...

I've used many tuners over the years and this might sound like a strange suggestion but the best headstock tuner I've used is super inexpensive. It's very good at picking up string vibration on...

Re: Should I Buy an OM

I think playing accompaniment on an octave mandolin is a great choice for session playing. You could also play rhythm on your mandolin, but it is more appropriate to the genre to play octave...

Re: Pango Afanti F5 (PMD-719) review

I saw your videos on the Afanti A5 and it looks and sounds great! Any updates on the F5?
I'm thinking of buying one and I'm curious if you think the added price for the F5 is worth it?
    Thanks!...
