Re: My New Big Muddy M-2

I loved OP's sound clip and his super clean note "enunciation" if there is such a thing. I'm impressed!

    Re: Help me understand

As for a mandola, I agree that the stretch is obviously not as drastic considering the scale length difference. I went with the Eastman MDA815 after considering the 300 series of the same brand for a...

    Re: Help me understand

Both the ones I posted are sub $1000 offerings... so what you're asking me is, how does a kia stack up compared to a top of the line Mercedes. The answer is, can we / should we really compare them?...
  8. Re: Thinking about making a small pedalboard just for the mandoli

Thanks man! A lot to think about :)
  9. Re: Thinking about making a small pedalboard just for the mandoli

I guess that was my post, Dave. Or the point for it. I am new to the mando. So I was hoping some people would chime in as to what effect they use with their mando so I can plan my board. :)
  10. Re: Thinking about making a small pedalboard just for the mandoli

I use power supplies with separate channels to be sure that there's no interference. I don't trust the one spot stuff... as a guitar player in the past, I've had too many reasons to not.

    Re: Help me understand

As discussed elsewhere, I dig my Pono octave mandolin. Guitar-shaped, mine came with a K&K pickup installed by the previous owner. I don't foresee selling it, unless financial times were hard.

Yeah... no. No thank you. But one man's garbage is another man's treasure - just look at my ex-wife :)

    Re: (Video) Pono Octave Mandolin...

Thanks! It plays super well, too. I tend to play my other OM more often, but it's only because it's usually on a stand and readily available while I keep this one in a case. Anyway, I enjoy them both.
  14. Re: SongwritingCircle.com Podcast - Episode 4 uploaded

Well, that's true, but in this case, I suppose it's self-funded. It's only my time I'm investing :)

Thanks for the feedback and for watching, Mike! My goal is to hopefully encourage people to start writing. We need more beauty, and therefore more art, in this world :)

    Re: Pinky independence

I assume that "exercises" help, but I'll be darned if I can follow that regimen. Some people can, and my hat is off to them, but I can't. Amusingly, the only thing that has helped me has been to NOT...

I really appreciate that! John Prine is a hero of mine, for sure. So I'm always concerned about covering one of this songs. It would hurt my feelings to screw it up too badly ;)
