    Delfest Postponed

I understand and respect the McCouryís decision to postpone their festival. It just makes me worry about whatís going to happen for events scheduled this summer. I know we all have plans and I know...
  2. Re: Fixing up a cheap case - is 3M spray adhesive a bad idea?

I respect your industrious intentions, but have you thought about just using some cotton cloth to fill the voids in the case? A chipboard case is what it is, and probably canít be made into a...

    Re: Alvarez a400

Thanks Anglocelt. I find it interesting that someone chose to copy Martins at a time when Martinís mandolin production was on the decline. Maybe they were hoping to fill a void that they could profit...

    Re: Alvarez a400

Thanks f-d. I have noticed that the depth of the neck is slightly less than a Martin and it has more of a sharp v shape. Not quite as beefy as a Martin, so there is a substantially less amount of...

    Re: New Bob Dylan

It is what it is, but it kinda sounds like a demo or work up of another song from Tempest or Modern Times. Iím pretty sure Iíve heard some of those lyrics in another song, but I could be wrong and I...

Re: post a video of yourself

Nice job Dan! The challenge was accepted and conquered! Do you have a challenge for Pheffernan?
  8. Re: Do you shift positions for hammer-ons/pull-offs?

The link didn’t work for me, but TD’s and Jim’s posts above are very helpful information.

You beat me to it!!!!
  11. Re: Do you shift positions for hammer-ons/pull-offs?

I know this might sound like the easy way out, but have you tried sliding from the five to the seven? Not quite the same effect as hammering, but somewhat similar. Just a thought.

    Re: Alvarez a400

I know this thread is older than dirt, but it doesn’t seem worthwhile to start a new one considering there’s little information about this model online and the catalog shot above is about the most...

Re: Any help identifying old Mandolin?

To me it seems like a worthwhile venture to take an afternoon and check it out. You obviously have a lot of curiosity and if you donít end up buying it at least you will have gained some knowledge...

    Re: C F Martin mandolin

Thatís definitely not a wall hanger! Iím not an expert in valuations, but I would say that itís at least worth a grand. Very beautiful and probably the best sounding Martin model in my opinion. Play...

Re: Embedded YouTube videos not playing

How’d you fix it? I don’t think this problem is exclusive to the Cafe, I’ve had it happen on other sites with embedded videos. I have to hit the video title text because the red button doesn’t seem...

Re: How thick of a pick?

For the past few months Iíve really liked the Dunlop Primetone 1.5 rounded triangle(with grip) I like it for flatpicking guitar too. The pros are it produces a tone thatís dark and woody, and kinda ...

Re: keeping the mando off your stomach

Yes they are!!! And not to cause any further controversy, but that is absolutely the best way to keep a mandolin away from your stomach! And I love Docís capo confession! Great stuff!

Iím not familiar with the Ibanez warranty specifically, but I would agree that most donít honor neglect as a valid claim. However, I donít think anyone can say without any doubt that this is solely a...
