    Re: Howard and Jethro

What a great find - thanks for the heads-up! I've always been a huge fan of harmonica, not to mention Jethro. Got a bunch of Toots Thielemans discs in my library, but haven't heard as much of Levy....

Re: Comfy in our new RV

For the past 20 years we've spent May through October at a county park campground about 12 miles north of where we live. We've "graduated" from a 27-foot trailer to a 32-foot 5th wheel to a 38-foot...

    Re: Tone-gard & tonyp

Yes - I have a friend in Ann Arbor who had a late 20s L5 and Tony made him a Tone Guard for it. Even included his initials in the design. He loved it. That was years ago, but last time I was on...

    Re: Strings By Mail

To answer the original question, I've used Strings By Mail on several occasions, and they have been great. They seem to have almost everything in stock, and ship quickly. They are located in the...

    Re: Convert...

I have a friend who is an accomplished guitarist, and he decided to built a mandolin a few years back. He started with StewMac's Campfire/Army Navy kit, or whatever it was called. I warned him "That...

    Re: A new prototype mandolin

I love it also. Slightly reminiscent of a modernized Maccaferri-style design, which I also love. Would love to hear this one!

Hammered dulcimer would be a PIA also. Years ago I had a Djangolin, which had a slotted headstock. if you think a regular mandolin is a pain, try one with a slotted headstock. Never again.

Re: Learning to read music for Mandolin

I was about to mention this book also. I bought it about 10 years ago, and just FINALLY pulled it out a few weeks ago. I don't know what scared me off for the last 50 years, but it has opened up a...

Re: Tweaks for weak sounding E strings

Other than the weak E strings, how are you liking the El Rey?? I keep gazing at those photos, trying to think about what I could peddle to raise funds for one. Anxious to see one in person!
