I too had EVO frets replaced, I had a custom built F5 made and for some reason (too much internet) I thought EVO frets were an "up grade" in fact they did add cost to the build and the mando looked...
I'm one of the ones who experienced a new mando "opening up" & wasn't going to post due the varied opinions & thinking did it really ? But after reading Rob Roy's post I'm chimming in. I had a custom...

The Morely ABC solved my problem, I now play my mando, lap steel & harmonica using one amp. I don't get the POP you mention mine is very quiet ? It's a passive pedal and doesn't need power & doesn't...
If a Godin A8 qualify's as an E mando, than I think the OP is wrong on the sound part, playing the A8 with a 5 piece band through a Fishman LB the tone/sound that comes through the mix isn't much...
I also use a Godin A8 but in a semi loud band and kinda thought the same thing the A8 doesn't look the part than realized I don't either so what the hell & I usually hide behind the singer anyway....
Hi there, I just started playing Lap steel & ran across this western swing mando, never knew it existed. Anyway thought I'd post it up for a little amusement.

The Dude who played on that album is a beast, there are some real cool licks/grooves He does which takes a good right hand (& timing) to pull off. It would be cool to see what you post ahmandolin &...
I'm not ignoring the America comment as I went down that road & ended up commissioning a build from Audey Ratliff and it was a great experience to be involved with picking out wood, bindings, frets,...
I think you can't go wrong with a Gallatin I love my Weber plays great & sounds great you won't be disappointed. I have noticed mine does feel a bit lighter compared to some pac rim mandos I've...
Been at it for a few years for FUN but awhile ago I was voicing frustration at my "mediocre" playing & the guitar player in our band said "you know I'll never hit a golf ball like Tiger Woods but I'm...
I've shipped a few mandolins in the last few years UPS/FEDEX & it seems it's always $150 to over $200 due to insurance. I always insure for cost of sale price not retail, the instruments sold were...

J74's I use the A8 in a rock/country band I'm a pretty heavy handed player and those strings combined with the A8 are great, last forever, take abuse and rarely goes out of tune even at outdoor gigs.
I'm a probably a biased but I'd go Ratliff, I spent months looking & trying what I could I ended up with a Ratliff CB & it's a great sounding mando I'm not playing my Weber very much anymore the CB...
Very wise to record the lessons it's amazing how much info. you will get & only process a small amount at least thats been my experience. If you want a really nice recording & dont mind spending...
It would help if you told us what type of pick up your using & what kind of amplification your plugging into, usually just a decent Di box into a PA system works well, a lot of guys here use red eye...
