  1. Re: Converting Right handed Mandolin to left handed

I have Collings MT glosstop that is a lefty.
I got it in a trade deal and thought I would flip it.
I quickly switched it to a righty to see what it sounded like.
    It sounds great.
    Better than a...
  2. Re: Loar 520E, Kentucky 630, Loar 590E or Eastman 315

    Murrfk,,, where do you live?
I am in BC and I have lots of experience buying mandolins mostly in the US.
There are some hoops to jump through but not too bad.
  3. Re: Converting Right handed Mandolin to left handed

Don Roon,,, why are you looking to do this?
Do you have a particular mandolin on hand that you want to switch over or are you thinking that since most mandolins are righty that it seems to be the...

  6. Re: Campanella two-point (How to make an accent on due?)

I have found that sometimes the nut or the bridge slots are ďpinchingĒ the string so it canít get full vibration.
I would take a good look at the slot widths.

    Re: Orpheum Mandolin circa 1930s?

Orpheum and Stradolins were built by the same people.
I have had lots of both.
They vary in quality from full laminated to laminated back and sides with a solid spruce top to some very rare ones...

    Re: Frank Benko F5 copy

I am not sure what Benko was usually using for tuners.
Might be that he used whatever he could get his hands on?
He might not have been stuck on any one brand.

    Re: Frank Benko F5 copy

I am not sure of the age but the Centenial tailpiece ensures that it was 1967 or newer.
    Canada's Centenial was in 1967.

    Re: 1932 F5 copy

    Well the mystery continues.
These tuners that appeared to be the originals are not right.
The base plates perfectly match old imprints on the back of the headstock but it wouldn't be possible to...

    Re: 1932 F5 copy

I didn't even look at them till now but they are not F style tuners at all.
I just looked at the peg head and for sure the old imprint confirms that these were indeed mounted.
    Must have been tight.

    Re: Inexpensive Bridge on Elderly

Jay,,, I have had lots of Stradolins and unless yours is very different I think you will have a hard time trying to use a normal 2 piece adjustable bridge.
The Stradolins have a very low neck angle...
