My mandolin journey began from scratch eight years ago with a bluegrass mandolin "Jam Tunes" book by Rick Williams. When I realized music is best experienced as a "team sport" I devoured Pete...
I lost my go to CT55 in the house once. Drove me crazy for several weeks looking. I'm pretty compulsive about storing the pick under the strings....which I still think is the best habit you can...
What about when band members whoop or holler during the performance. That happens too. Adds a lot of energy. I like it from the audience or the band if done tastefully. Clapping, not so much.
Innvocative thread ! Honestly, to have a real conversation about "underrated" mandolin players I think you need a whole classification system....like three or four, or maybe even five categories....
I purchased Steve Hinde's MF #7 build here on the Cafe classifieds a couple of years ago.
It has been my daily driver since. I've lugged it all over the country and halfway around the world. ...

Hello Folks-
I am very devoted to the Cafe for the past five years since taking up playing the mandolin, but I rarely post. Last month I was moved by the story posted in the forum about the...
I own three mandolins and over the course of time and through trial and error I have settled on a different pick for each instrument to bring out the best sound to my ears. I find that picks make a...
I have to add my accolades for Matt as a teacher. I've just finished up my second course with him, BG 102. Like anything else in life, you get out of it what you put into it. He gives you an...

Skipdog - Yes, I purchased Jade #33 from Nic last January. It seemed to take forever (like three weeks from shipping) to arrive from Austrailia. I play and appreciate it more every day. I...
I own a Jade, purchased last year on the Cafe classifieds. I always wondered what happened to the builder, Bob McRee. I came across this today when I googled his name. Thought others might want to...
