    Re: Acoustic Engineer

But of course it is a great honor to be one of a relatively small collection of people who have signed their name on a Gibson mandolin label as "Acoustic Engineer". The necessary prerequisites...

Re: Mandolin Orange on today Show

Binge watched on YouTube yesterday, so great! Lots of minor keys to rip your heart strings. That girl has a great touch on the fiddle. Go howl at the moon tonight.

    Re: Point protectors

This seems unusual. Where did you search? Celluloid binding is the traditional method to protect the points on the F-5 body and can be found at suppliers such as Stewmac.

Re: eastman md515 vs loar lh600

I like my The Loar LM600, nice neck shape, sweet tone, not a lot of volume or bark but a very appealing sound for solo playing. My wife also likes the sound of it. If you're a bluegrass player...

    Re: octave mandolins

Two thumbs up for the Eastman MDO305. I've had mine for about two years now, measures 21" scale. Once I developed my skills using my little finger the octave mandolin opened up a new musical world...

    Re: Eastman MDA315 mandola! Yes!

I know this thread is about mandolas but your photo of that beautiful Fylde Single Malt has me wanting one just like that. I'll be on the hunt for one of those.

    Mind boggling.
  10. Re: What's the weirdest MUSICAL thing you've ever done?

Our little bluegrass trio once managed to get a gig at a topless bar, The Pirate's Chest in Oceanview. The girls would perform to juke box music for 40 minutes and then we'd take the runway for 20...

Re: someone beat me to this....

Poor photoshop job regarding the correct size of the mandolin relative to the Mandalorian image. It does show the mandolin is mightier than the sword and music soothes the savage beast.

  16. Re: Pono UL4-10 baritone uke/tenor guitar - intonation issues

Not being familiar with the Pono UL4-10 baritone uke I thought it must have 10 strings. Not so. Four strings only. Should be called UL4-10 STEEL string baritone uke. Perhaps if you tried tuning it...

    Re: Looking for some recommendations

Best of luck with your desire to learn an instrument. Since your interest is towards folk and bluegrass I believe you will find the mandolin a more suitable choice than say a ukulele.

    Re: Capo for Ovation

Check out the little capo made by D'Addario. Works well on my mandolin with a radius neck.
  22. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

I love the part where Maybelle Carter earns enough money from their records to buy a new guitar. That beautiful Gibson archtop guitar she bought must be a rare collectors item.

    Well I checked it...
