    Re: Did someone say PICKS?

Now the price says $500. That's $0.03/pick. That's well worth it, even if his estimate of the actual number is wrong by a 100 or so. Thinking.....my PAS could be cured for the rest of my life! LOL!!!!

    Re: Did someone say PICKS?

Man, I'm a slacker. I thought I had a lot of picks (and in my defense, PAS is WAY cheaper and picks are WAY easier to hide than mandolins.) I need to get looking at new picks again (although I really...

    Re: its only a Dollar..

The back wood has a nice pattern.....Wonder if it sounds any good. If it sounds okay, it's probably worth $1.

Oh no! If he moves the store back to Ohio, a road trip would be in order and my in remission MAS may be reactivated. Third job, here I come!

I purchased two mandolins from them some years ago,...

Wow! That's a new (and scary) one - a bass banjo!
  10. Re: How to choose a good F style mandolin when you are miles from

You can call The Mandolin Store (NFI) and tell them the sound you are looking for, neck profile, etc and ask them for recommendations or what they have in stock that you might like.

Re: Parting with a beloved mandolin

Bill, I understand where you are coming from (and we are fairly close neighbors too, as I am in Alliance, OH.) I have a bit of MAS for a late 1920s/early 1930s Gibson A, but I cannot justify it...

    Re: What's up with USPS?

Last thing I ordered was due to arrive last Saturday and it actually arrived Friday. Usually it does pretty well, but sometimes the route makes no sense (once ordered something from Indiana - I live...

Re: A word of encouragement (but maybe not)

I strive to get as good as Chris Thiele or Sarah Jaroz, although realistically I know that is unlikely to happen. And I also doubt I will get as good as I want to get before my body falls apart, but...

    Re: Polishing Frets

I don't polish my frets, I wipe down the fretboard with a slightly damp rag when I change strings (remove residual finger sweat/dust) but do not polish anything.

Re: Love the One Youíre With

There is truth to this - you learn how to get the best out of the mando you play, and there is a learning curve (however small) when you are trying a new instrument.

Pava sends them with GHS A270 strings, I would think/hope she knows what makes them sound best (at least in her opinion.) I am not sure I would deviate too far...

  22. Re: Ultimate Mixed Bag- 76 Mandolins in the Big Parade

I paid less than $200 each for non-crack playable bowlbacks, that should give you an idea of value of the "mixed bag," although when I checked the link it said the item is no longer available.

    Re: Thinking About A Pava

I bought a Pava as my second mandolin from TMS - I still love it 3 years later. Mine is regular nut (but I have very small hands) and regular wood, but fit and finish is superb, and I do not regret...
  25. Re: What is the most mandolins you've owned at one time?

8 mandolins (4 bowlbacks, a Weber Bitterroot oval, a Pava, a Collings, and a Kentucky,) 8 acoustic guitars, and 2 violins. But I have bought nothing in over a year, so I think my GAS/MAS are under...
