    Re: Kentucky KM-1500 (Amazing Deal)

Thanks everyone! The seller was actually Amazon, not a third party so that part made me confident. I will definitely report back. The only downside is that it will need to be set up so I hope I can...

    Re: Kentucky KM-1500 (Amazing Deal)

Haha I just saw that as well! I contacted Amazon to see if they would honour that new price since I just bought it two days ago.

    Kentucky KM-1500 (Amazing Deal)

I haven't posted on this forum in quite some time, but just had to share this news. For years, I have wanted to upgrade my mandolin and have always had my eye on either an Eastman 615 or a Kentucky...

    Re: Godin A8: Playability?

Could you explain? I assume you mean the neck is potentially bowed but I usually do my own set ups and the mandolin looks fine, other than the slight bow in the saddle. That part is a bit weird, it's...

    Re: Godin A8: Playability?

One of the other members of my group uses an Eastman mandolin with the K&K pickup. To be honest, it always gets lost in the mix. That's the upgrade I was considering but I am not sure if I am as in...

    Re: Godin A8: Playability?

I think four years of using it live is enough to get used to the neck, that's not really it. I more so find that chords just don't ring out, even when I really press down on the strings. As for...

    Re: Godin A8: Playability?

Just to clarify, I have the adjustable bridge model. Maybe it is the flat fretboard that's bugging me. With light strings it sounds to hi-fi plugged in but with medium gauge the saddle bows a bit.

    Re: Godin A8: Playability?

I did buy this mandolin used so I often wonder if there was a reason why it was being sold (issue with the saddle). I just find that even on my cheap Epiphone mandolin, I am able to make chords ring...

    Godin A8: Playability?

I purchased a Godin A8 mandolin about four years ago (mine has the adjustable saddle), and have really loved how easy it is to dial in live. Lately however, I am been finding it difficult to to do...
  10. Re: Kentucky vs. Eastman: Differences in 600 series and up?

A couple of years ago a KM1500 came up used at the 12th fret for $1200.00. It had just had a re-fret and apparently had been played almost every night of the week for a few years so it was broken in....
  11. Re: Kentucky vs. Eastman: Differences in 600 series and up?

The thing with Eastman is that they tend to be easier to find here in Canada. I only know of one store within driving distance that carries Kentucky.
  12. Re: Kentucky vs. Eastman: Differences in 600 series and up?

I would like to spend $1000 or less but on a used mandolin. It's true, the mandolin prices here are expensive. The Eastman 615 that my friend just got was $850.00 used. I might have to just be...
  13. Kentucky vs. Eastman: Differences in 600 series and up?

I have been trying to choose between an Eastman and Kentucky mandolin. They seem to be the most popular/affordable brand here in Canada so I see a lot of them online. I have yet to try one though...

    Re: Kentucky KM900 vs. KM950

Thanks everyone! I might hold off for the 950. The thing is, I won't be able to try the 900 before buying so the fact that they vary in quality worries me. I just feel that the 950 would be a more...

    Kentucky KM900 vs. KM950

Just wondering what people think of these two Kentucky mandolin models? There's an incredible deal on a used, but mint condition KM-900 on Kijiji in my area. I am tempted to grab it but the 950...

Re: Fishman Aura with Octave Mandolin

Thanks for the reply! I actually just uploaded the four Bouzouki images that were on the Aura imaging software, into my Spectrum DI. It's unfortunately not a perfect match for my OM but I figure it's...

    Fishman Aura with Octave Mandolin

    Hi all,

Just wondering if any of you have tried using the Fishman Aura imaging with a bouzouki or Octave Mandolin? I own a Trinity College Octave Mandolin with a Headway pickup installed and it...

    Re: Headway Bouzouki pickup

The Dtar Wavelength is indeed a nice pickup but it's not really the same as the Headway. First off, the Wavelength is actually the Lr Baggs element UST. Dtar has a deal with Lr Baggs where they...

    Headway Bouzouki pickup

    Hi all,

I had the Headway Bouzouki pickup installed in my Trinity College Octave Mandolin and I wanted to give a report on my experiences with it. The installation itself was a bit of a pain for...

    Re: Peter Sawchyn Mandolins?

I did a ton of research and the feeling I am getting is that there seems to be three levels of bouzouki's out there. The first level is the cheaper bouzouki's that are easily found on eBay (Celtic...
