    Re: Bruno Mandolinetto

A mandolinetto has guitarshaped body and 4x2 strings, a mandriola has mandolin body and 4x3 strings so I don't know what that makes yours :-) Mandrionetto ?

    Pictures or it didn't happen

  2. Re: Wrecked fingers can't make 'block chords', time to quit?

You hit a wall after TWO days? :))

Maybe try two months and then decide.

Another help can be stretching practice for fingers, that can give you much more mobility and range.

    You could try...
  3. Re: Neapolitan Mandolin Build in Naples - November 2022

Very exiting as it's very difficult to fathom the beauty of the rough instrument under a lot of glue and paper. We are waiting ;-)

  6. Re: Neck heel crack repair on beater mandolin?

Take off the strings give the crack som CA thin glue, it will wick into all small crevices as no other glue. Force the neck down, wait 24 hours.

A screw will also do, on a low value ukulele. Drill...

Re: Ukulele tuned like a mandolin

Nice. I tuned a ukulele as a Balalaika, as I sold my Balalaika beacause I couldn't reach with my thumb in the 1. on the upside and my (any) finger in the 5. band on the underside.

    Re: Finish cracks?

Not a good idea to publish mail addresses. Robots harvests the internet and then sends spam. camouflage it.

I like that paper, all mine are just drab brown paper.

    Re: Finish cracks?

This is not the "normal" crazing in the lacquer which can happen over time. It looks like the two parts have moved with respect to each other.

Are you sure there isn't a (wooden?) binding there?...

  14. Re: Neapolitan Mandolin Build in Naples - November 2022

Hello. What is the purpose of the paper? I find it all the time inside the instruments.

What material is the thin white line between the staves?

    Re: New Mandola

Same here, although it does depend on the mandolin and the strings.

I have a mandolinetto with nylon mandolin strings and even the high strings are kind of docile.

    Subscribed :-)
  17. Re: Effect of humidity on a nice mandolin...

?? Your hotel will have airconditioning, so humidity will probably be too low, not high.

    Re: correct nut slot sizing

Check your string diameter and then your file diameter with a slideruler, they are cheap
  19. Re: Does anyone know what tailpiece this is?

Take a plier and make a 90 degree bend in the middle of the loop, connect it to the tailpiece and clamp the string to the fretboard with a capo, while you connect the string to the tuner. One string...

Re: I'm curious about a hide gluing method

I have no idea but would be sceptical about how the steam would be able to penetrate a clamped joint.

But why not just try it? ;)

From the shape it could be a Waldzither. It's a bit to big for my Böhm.

    Are you selling?

Re: What is the story behind the "scroll"

Well, you can only express your own opinion, so I expressed mine

I have one with a scroll but it cost 1/10 of normal price so I let it pass :)
