I played through both the artist and the mini, both sounded very, very good. I bought the mini merely to save cash, as I had tried (and owned) other amps and also watched numerous online demos and...
I had to find out who Barbie Edwards is https://therapyharps.com/about-barbie-edwards/

I made three trips to Fiddlers Green recently and had a field day each time playing numerous mandolins and a few guitars. Definitely found some I'd like to own. Didn't play a mandolin there...
To get the least harmonic "interference" from a string, pluck it with fleshy part of finger at the twelfth fret. With that in mind, I go for a compromise, generally tuning with a "darker" sounding...
I’ve used AT PRO35 for a clip on condenser. Also used the old standard SM 57 on a stand. Both work very well in different circumstances. But recently I had K & K pickups installed, and loving them...
I don’t mean to strictly categorize it though. I remember one of the tunes he sings in Gb is by Chris Knight, from Kentucky. This song: https://youtu.be/0U2Px5OR0eA
That’s good stuff, but no, it’s a sort of contemporary country music style of Oklahoma and North Texas. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_dirt_(music)
I have a few favorites lately in different styles on mandolin, Green River (CCR), Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning (Rev Gary Davis) and Diving Duck Blues (Yank Rachell). All are a lot of fun on...
I recently hit upon a fun practice regimen, entirely by chance. It involves nothing more than playing with my son.
He's long been in this phase where he wants to keep his guitar tuned down a half...
Happened to me last night, and I remembered this thread from last year :)
I think it has much to do with the Christmas season ... notice this thread was started in December last year.
I'm not a...
Thanks! Enjoyable and informative. I wasn't aware of Aaron's bouts with the dread crab. Love his work.
Love this picture of her grandma!
Let me encourage you to post it in another thread here titled "Women with Mandolins", https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/threads/19074-Women-with-Mandolins
Yes in fact the insignia on cap reads “US”
A fiddler and guitarist, joined by mandolinist, great footage!
Ah, yes, I agree. Chart wasn’t useful for me personally. YMMV. But Don’s advice was helpful, as usual. Much appreciated.
Fun little lesson there!
I haven't gotten that impression from anyone's remarks here; "compete with composing"? It is plain and simply composition, on the fly and in the moment. Immediate composition.
Of course they do ...
IOW, the advice was to play the scales in a harmonic context, "Play a major scale while the chord it corresponds to is playing."
Some great advice there, thanks!
Thanks for the link, Gunnar. Nice blog you have there.
I'm going to practice, catch you later!
Happy birthday MC!

Hi Murray! I posted pics front and back of one of your finished Broadway mandolins last year, along with a YouTube sound clip. Can be seen at this post:...
Would be good to think about your terminology, perhaps.
"Chord notes" i.e. "chord tones" of Gmaj chord = G, B, D ... so the next chord note in the key of G on melody note G would be a B note (B is...
LOL, I thought you misspelled that on purpose, since you did it in both phrases, "I suppose it's "how many angles can one put on the head of pin" or "all a mater of how one is taught?"
As though...
