"It's like a small guitar."
"No, that's a ukulele, this is a mandolin."
Probably doesn't make it clearer to the person asking, but at least I set that straight.

Haha, I'm partly responsible for that - love that song and the music video is quite funny. Don't read the comments on that video, though.
Straight from my Instagram!

I would use this as a stage light during performances!
I use the free one and that's epically good as well.
I also use GarageBand on the iPad or iPhone to record scratch tracks for stuff, or to use it a s a loop station (which it does remarkably well).

I would get a tablet - just grab the Skype app and you're done. Might be a little too much solely for this purpose, but there's a lot more that it can do beyond that. Just a thought. ;)
I saw this somewhere else, but hadn't heard the audio yet - thanks for posting.
"It will light better with a $35 switch."
If anyone's looking for a file sharing service - check www.box.net - it's what I used. It's a bit like DropBox, but I need that for college/uni collaborations.
Polecat, would you (or anybody else,...
Responding to the Audio Technica AT4033 suggestion: you could get started with the AT3035 if you wanted to. They're available second hand cheaply (i.e. not breaking the bank even if you break the...
I'm really looking forward to hearing that Radius. I heard this and I didn't even realize at first that I was listening to a pick-up.
...
Oh, duh. I should've known that. Cheers!
Might not be your forte, but still sounds great. I suppose the best way to showcase a pick-ups capabilities is to exploit it's dynamic range (or...
I still have too much to get right, I forget to smile. Working on it though.
Thanks, I did the best I can at the moment - the tune is a little bit more difficult than I thought when I started learning it. But I'll play it for a long time because I love it so much.
Polecat,...
Better do it the other way around, kind of.

Ah, dang it - I'm properly jealous now. Those are the best! I bet it sounds amazing! I've always wanted one of those all-Koa models. IMO, those are like the prettiest guitars out there.
Mine would...
Cheers both! It was recorded straight into my Focusrite Saffire Pro40 audio interface/preamp. I had the instrument switch engaged which I think raises the input impedance. If it's off, the input...
Thanks, and thanks. :)
If anyone wants the backing track, let me know - I recorded it myself the day before.
Howdy folks,
I don't know if this has been done and if it's useful to anybody, but I personally always like to check out some audio material before I get anything installed. I thought maybe we...
I can't say. I've tried lower and higher dollar instruments but nothing of the same. I wanted a KM-505 because everybody said it was a good instrument but they were out of stock so I got the KM-550....
I posted one video in the Tune-A-Week group. I'm probably posting one again soon.
Thanks for the compliment, makes me really happy. :)
Anyhow, what I've discovered is that the mandolin is much...
I hear ya! ;)
I have a long-standing affinity and fascination with music. Nobody that sees/hears me play (except for my parents) actually knows that. Combine that with taking the plunge (learning...
I haven't posted here yet. I don't know why. :(
Anyway, here's my KM-550 - nothing to be super-proud of, but I'm really happy with it. It really sings but I can't really make it do that so well....
Thanks for checking y'all, and for the kind words of course!
That intro should've been shorter indeed. I'll keep that in mind for my next video if there's gonna be one.
Also, what do y'all...
