I've noticed that a lot of older bouzoukis have that carved scroll on the headstock. Is there any advantage to that, or is it purely ornamental? Are there any makers these days still offering that?
What's your favorite clip-on microphone for an Irish bouzouki? I recently had a t.bone Ovid System CC 100 recommended to me, and I wanted to see if there were any others out there that people are...
I really want to get a pickup installed in my Weber Sage #1 octave mandolin for recording, but before I have it done professionally, will doing so decrease the value of the instrument or somehow...
I just released an album of English and Irish folk songs (and a Scottish pipe tune set) on the bouzouki. Hope you enjoy!

I highly recommend Macdara Ó Faoláin located in County Waterford. He built a beautiful mandolin for me that sounds amazing.

I replied to you on the facebook page as well, but just for everyone's benefit here. Dervish has Brian McDonagh on the mandola and Michael Holmes on bouzouki, and their interplay is at the heart of...
Alright, so I've been playing a Weber Sage OM #1 for quite some time now. I have it tuned to GDAD and primarily play trad tunes or trad accompaniment. I've been curious about getting a bouzouki for...
I hope that this sort of post is okay here, but my band just released a new album of folk music and I'm playing the mandolin (okay, okay, bandolim, I know, but still) all over the place on it. I'd...
I'm looking for a wood for a custom mandolin that is both warm and good for ITM. I've heard that both cedar and redwood work well, but I'm interested to see what others here say. Thank you!
Been listening to it nonstop for the past few days. Awesome music!
Cool! I'm just worried about drilling into an instrument to install this, or even having someone else do it, but I suppose I could have someone give it a shot.
Awesome! I was looking at GD Armstrong the first time I wanted to get an electric bouzouki years ago, and I'm glad that you've reminded me of him now.
Also, just wanted to say that Dragon Reels...
Thank you! Just replied to his post to see if he's taking commissions for those.
These look and sound amazing! Are you currently taking commissions for these?
If you're willing to spend a bit of money, I've heard good things about the Online Academy of Irish Music (OAIM). They have a mandolin course taught by Paddy Cummins of Skipper's Alley fame. I...
Very nice selection of tunes! Reminds me a lot of the early 70s recordings. Will pick this up soon, for sure!
Ah good times, I'm willing to spend more for something that doesn't sound tinny and can be done with no modifications to the instrument. I'll check out the Schertler Dyn-M if that's what you're...
Beautiful wood!
Does anyone have opinions of Moon from Scotland? I'm looking at trying to find one of their A plus E mandolins, but wanted to get some opinions here. Thanks!
Hey, I'm looking to commission (or maybe buy) an electric bouzouki and was wondering if anyone had any experience with makers. I'm just trying to get some ideas right now. Thanks!
I have a Weber octave mandolin that I don't want to cut into. I'm looking at installing a Schatten Design BM-1 but was wondering if anyone had ever installed one on an octave mandolin or bouzouki? ...
I'm looking for a good mandola. Not looking to spend more than $1000, but also don't want a cheap starter model. Built-in pickup would be nice. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have a Weber Sage #1 bouzouki/octave mandolin and want to get a pickup for it finally (I do a LOT of recording with it). What do you all suggest to get the best sound without having to drill a ton...
